UNC women’s lacrosse head coach Jenny Levy was named the ACC Coach of the Year for a league-record eighth time Wednesday afternoon, while Eliza Osburn also took home Freshman of the Year honors.

Levy most recently took home the award in 2022. Like in that season, Levy has led the Tar Heels to an undefeated record and an ACC Tournament championship, with UNC positioned to be the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament when the field is announced Sunday evening. Carolina is ranked No. 1 in both national polls and in the NCAA’s RPI metric. Levy’s win means the UNC men’s and women’s lacrosse programs swept this year’s ACC Coach of the Year honors, as men’s head coach Joe Breschi was named the winner of the award Tuesday. It’s the third time Levy and Breschi have both won the award in the same season.

Osburn, a midfielder originally from Castle Rock, CO, is the first Tar Heel to win ACC Freshman of the Year since Jamie Ortega did so in 2018. Osburn was recently named second team All-ACC and earned a spot on the ACC All-Tournament team. In 18 games and nine starts, Osburn has 27 goals and five assists.

The NCAA Tournament selection show is scheduled for Sunday, May 4 at 9 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU. As the No. 1 overall seed, UNC would receive a first-round bye and would play its second-round game at Dorrance Field on Monday, May 12.
