The UNC women’s soccer team is in the top spot in the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches Poll. The Tar Heels jumped one spot from No. 2 to No. 1 in the poll and received seven of a possible eight first-place votes.

Rounding out the Top 5 with Carolina are No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 Florida State (who received the only other first-place vote), No. 4 Penn State and No. 5 UCLA. South Carolina, Alabama and Arkansas, who the Tar Heels went 2-0-1 against in non-conference play, are ranked No. 7, No. 9 and No. 10, respectively. For a full look at the poll, click here.

In addition to the coaches poll, UNC also ranked No. 1 in the first edition of the NCAA’s RPI rankings. Penn State, Florida State, Stanford and Alabama rounded out the Top 5.

Future UNC opponents ranked in the latest poll include the Seminoles, No. 10 Notre Dame, No. 16 Duke and No. 22 Virginia. At 6-0-3, the Tar Heels will look to keep their unbeaten run going against the Cavaliers on Thursday night in Charlottesville.
