The UNC women’s soccer team will compete as a No. 2 seed in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. The tournament bracket was revealed on Monday, and matched up the Tar Heels with Old Dominion in the first round of the competition.

Old Dominion enters the tournament as the winners of the Sun Belt Conference. As the higher-seeded team, Carolina will host the Monarchs at Dorrance Field on Saturday at 7 p.m. The winner of that match will take on the winner of Samford and No. 7 seed Georgia in the second round.

There are 10 teams from the ACC in the 64-team field, the most of any conference in the country. That number includes Notre Dame, who is the No. 1 seed in Carolina’s region. The Tar Heels split the ACC regular-season title with the Irish and Florida State, who are also a No. 1 seed in the field after topping Carolina in the ACC championship. UNC did not play Notre Dame this season.

Carolina has appeared in every NCAA Tournament to date, and is the only program to achieve that feat. UNC is looking to rebound from a program-worst showing in last year’s tournament, when the Tar Heels lost their opening match for the first time in history. UNC is also seeking its 22nd NCAA title and first since 2012.
