For the fourth time in five matches, the UNC women’s soccer team settled for a 1-1 draw, this time in the regular season finale at Boston College on Thursday night. With that result, the Tar Heels will be the No. 4 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament.

Carolina dominated possession against the Eagles, who came into the night winless in ACC play, but found itself playing catch-up for much of the night. Boston College got on the board in the 32nd minute with its first shot on goal of the night and held that lead until halftime, despite shots on goal from Isabel Cox and Bella Sember.

The Tar Heels finally equalized in the 62nd minute on a goal from Ally Sentnor – her sixth of the season – and continued to push for the final half-hour, but could not find a way through Eagle goalkeeper Wiebke Willebrandt. Willebrandt finished with nine saves. Carolina outshot Boston College 21-3, but once again had to settle for sharing the spoils.

UNC finishes the regular season 10-0-8 overall and 5-0-5 in ACC play. The Tar Heels are still undefeated, though the eight draws are by far the most in program history in a single season. The good news: postseason play is here, which means draws are out the window.

Carolina will host No. 5 seed Pitt in the ACC Tournament’s opening round at Dorrance Field on Sunday night at 8 p.m., with the winner facing top seed Florida State in the semifinals in Cary on Thursday, November 2. Sunday’s match will be broadcast on ACC Network. For more information on the ACC Women’s Soccer Tournament, click here.
