Carolina had little trouble with visiting Louisville on Thursday night at Dorrance Field, dominating the Cardinals in a 5-0 victory to extend its winning streak to six matches. The five goals are the most the Tar Heels have scored in a match this season.

Kate Faasse netted two more goals on the night for Carolina, giving her 10 on the season and six in her last six matches. Aven Alvarez, Asha Means and Aria Nagai also scored for UNC, and for each of them it was their first goal as members of the Tar Heels. Carolina totaled 19 shots on the night, compared to just three for Louisville. Bella Sember had nearly a third of all the UNC shots, sending six toward the Cardinal net. On the other end of the pitch, freshman goalkeeper Hannah Johann saw her first action with Carolina, playing the match’s final 12 minutes and making a save.

With the win, UNC moves to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the ACC, its best start in conference play since the 2020-21 season. Carolina is also 8-0 at Dorrance Field and has shut out five of its last six opponents.

Up next for the Tar Heels is a trip out west for two difficult road matches. Carolina will visit No. 18 Cal on Thursday, October 10 at 7 p.m. Eastern time and No. 9 Stanford the following Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern.
