The road to the Final Four runs through Chapel Hill once again.

The UNC women’s lacrosse team received the No. 4 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament Sunday night, meaning the Tar Heels will have home-field advantage all the way into the national semifinals, which will be played in Cary.

Carolina will face Sacred Heart in its opening-round matchup, which will be played on Friday at 2 p.m. in Chapel Hill. The winner of that game will face the winner of Richmond and Marquette the following Sunday. A potential clash with No. 5 overall seed Denver in the quarterfinals with a Final Four berth at stake looms later on in the bracket.

“We’re really excited about the opportunity to play in this year’s NCAA Tournament,” said UNC head coach Jenny Levy. “I’m really proud of our team and the progress we’ve made throughout the season. The competitive schedule we play has helped us get better and has prepared us well for this year’s tournament.”

This is Carolina’s 18th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and 24th overall. The Tar Heels are 40-20 all-time in NCAA Tournament games (29-3 in Chapel Hill) and have earned a top-five seed in 14 consecutive seasons. UNC is the reigning national champion and has taken home the title three times in program history, all under Levy.

The ACC is well-represented in the bracket. Syracuse and Boston College are the No. 2 and No. 3 overall seeds respectively, with Virginia and Notre Dame also earning unseeded bids. For a full look at the bracket, click here.
