Head coach Joe Sagula and the UNC volleyball team are still searching for the good mojo that percolated through their 11-0 start to the season. After dropping a heartbreaker to Miami on Friday night, the Tar Heels were swept aside by Florida State Sunday, sending Carolina to its fourth straight loss.

The Seminoles dominated at the net throughout the match, holding a 13-1 advantage in blocks over the Tar Heels. UNC’s 36 kills on the afternoon were its lowest output of the season. Nia Parker-Robinson still put up 13 kills of her own, which led the team and marked her ninth straight match with 10 or more kills.

UNC looked like it might fight back in the second set after Florida State rolled in the first. After 10 points, the Tar Heels led, 7-3. But a 15-5 extended run for the Seminoles quickly snatched momentum away, and Carolina never saw the lead again, with Florida State closing out the second set and winning the third, 25-20, for a sweep. It’s the first time all season the Tar Heels have been swept.

Carolina will return to Chapel Hill for some much-needed home cooking next weekend, with two matches in Carmichael Arena against Wake Forest and Virginia Tech giving the Tar Heels an opportunity to snap their losing streak.
