The UNC volleyball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament for a second consecutive season. The Tar Heels will face No. 6 seed UTEP in the tournament’s first round Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time in Madison, WI.

The winner of Thursday’s match between the Tar Heels and Miners will face either No. 3 seed Wisconsin or unseeded Eastern Illinois in the second round Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern. UNC won its only previous meeting with UTEP.

Carolina finished the 2025 season, its third with Mike Schall as head coach, with a 21-8 overall record and a 14-6 mark in ACC play. Schall has guided UNC to consecutive NCAA Tournament berths for the first time since the program qualified in seven consecutive seasons from 2010 through 2016. Carolina’s deepest tournament run saw the Tar Heels reach the national quarterfinals in 2014.

UNC was one of seven ACC teams to make the tournament field. Also included are No. 1 seed Pittsburgh, No. 2 Louisville, No. 2 SMU, No. 2 Stanford, No. 5 Miami and unseeded Georgia Tech. For a full look at the tournament bracket, click here.
