Wrestling: Three Tar Heels Named to All-ACC Academic Team

A trio of Tar Heel wrestlers were named Wednesday to the Academic All-ACC Team for the sport, with a total of 20 wrestlers overall making the cut.

Representing UNC on the list were senior Gary Wayne Harding and freshmen Joe Heilmann and Brandon Whitman.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Harding was an NCAA qualifier at 133 pounds in his lone season with the Tar Heels this past year, as was Whitman at 197 pounds. Heilmann took home fourth place at the ACC Championships at 125 pounds.
