UNC redshirt sophomore Clay Lautt was selected Thursday by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as a Scholar All-American for the 2019-20 season.

Lautt is a double major in economics and environmental studies, and previously earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team. He also won the 2020 ACC Championship at 174 pounds, while going 13-3 in dual meets for the Tar Heels.

“We’re very proud of Clay for what he does on the mat and in the classroom,” head coach Coleman Scott said. “He’s somebody who we can point to for our younger guys as a well-rounded individual who makes our program better in many ways. We’re very proud of him for receiving yet another academic honor.”
