The top-ranked UNC women’s tennis team came from behind Sunday night in Stillwater, Oklahoma to defeat the No. 3 Texas Longhorns 4-3, claiming its second consecutive title in the ITA National Indoor Tournament.
This represents the Tar Heels’ fifth national title in the event since 2013 and third in the last four years.
Texas took the early lead on Sunday by taking the doubles point, then came within one singles victory of ending UNC’s 24-match win streak.
Instead, the Tar Heels had other ideas–as freshman Fiona Crawley and sophomore Elizabeth Scotty each came from behind in their matches to win in three sets.
Those clutch performances from two young players clinched the title for UNC (7-0) and represented the program’s 25th straight victory in a streak dating back to last season.
