The UNC women’s basketball team added a veteran to its roster, as the Tar Heels announced on Twitter Tuesday the signing of Illinois transfer Petra Holešínská.

Holešínská–a 5-foot-10-inch guard–will arrive in Chapel Hill with one year of eligibility remaining.

Sidelined for the entire 2018-19 season with a torn ACL, she rebounded in 2019-20 in her redshirt junior campaign–leading Illinois with 12.6 points per game and 41 percent mark from three-point range.

As a freshman with the Fighting Illini in 2016-17, she started 29 of the team’s 31 games while averaging a career-high 10.5 points per game.

The next season, as a sophomore, Holešínská ended the year having started only 12 of the 27 games she played in–finishing with 6.7 points per game. She was also second on the team with 36 made three-pointers.

Holešínská is a native of the Czech Republic, and has made appearances for the country’s national team.
