With a dominant 98-28 victory over the South Carolina State Bulldogs on Thursday night at Carmichael Arena, the UNC women’s basketball team improved to 4-0 this season.

Freshman point guard Deja Kelly led all scorers with 16 points in just 14 minutes for the Tar Heels, while senior Janelle Bailey added 15 points and nine rebounds.

UNC also received 14 points and 10 rebounds from freshman Kennedy Todd-Williams. A total of five Tar Heels scored in double figures, as Petra Holešínská added 13 points and Malu Tshitenge chipped in 11.

The 98 points scored by the team represents the highest scoring total of the young season. Defensively, the 28 points scored by South Carolina State (0-3) was also the lowest point total allowed by the Tar Heels.

South Carolina State scored just three points in the second quarter and trailed 43-13 at halftime in a game that was never close.

The Tar Heels held the Bulldogs to 17 percent shooting from the floor and forced a whopping 24 turnovers, all while shooting 53 percent on offense.
