Inclement weather put a damper on Monday’s College World Series action in Omaha, as a lengthy delay for the day’s first game between Oregon State and Washington forced tournament officials to postpone the scheduled late game pitting UNC against Mississippi State.

The Tar Heels and Bulldogs will now face off on Tuesday, with first pitch set for 11 a.m.

Both teams were victorious in their opening games on Saturday, which earned them each a spot in the winner’s bracket. Because of that, the game does not have elimination from the College World Series at stake–but the winner will gain the inside track to advance to the championship series.

Oregon State knocked off Washington 14-5 on Monday following a delay of over four hours, meaning the loser of Tuesday’s UNC-Mississippi State game will take on the Beavers in an elimination game. On the flip side, the winner on Tuesday will still need to lose twice in order to be sent home.
