The UNC volleyball team snapped a two-match losing streak on Wednesday evening at Carmichael Arena, when it rallied to defeat the rival NC State Wolfpack 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-22).
Coming into the night, the Tar Heels (5-7, 1-2 ACC) had dropped four of their last five contests–with the only win coming against Elon on Sep. 18.
After dropping the first set against the Wolfpack (7-6, 1-2 ACC), UNC pulled together to win each of the last three sets in thrilling fashion.
Destiny Cox led the charge with 19 kills for the Tar Heels, with fellow freshman Ava Bell adding 12 kills and a career-high 12 blocks. In addition, Hunter Atherton added 44 assists to go with her seven blocks.
For UNC head coach Joe Sagula, it was his 799th career victory and 596th since taking the helm in Chapel Hill.
