Prior to this past week–one that saw the UNC volleyball team win two matches in a row after a 10-game losing skid–the Tar Heels’ only conference victory in their first 13 attempts was at home against the rival NC State Wolfpack.

On Wednesday evening in Raleigh, however, the Wolfpack got their revenge with a clean 3-0 sweep over UNC (25-22, 26-24, 25-16).

The Tar Heels fall to 7-18 (3-13 ACC) with the loss, while NC State improves to 14-12 (8-8) with the victory.

Skylar Wine led UNC with 11 kills in the match. She was the only player to reach double digits in the category for head coach Joe Sagula.

The match was tied at 26 different times on Wednesday, but NC State was able to pull out all the crucial points in order to come away with the sweep and the victory.

Final hitting percentage numbers show that fact, as the Wolfpack finished with a 29 percent mark in the category–compared to just 14.5 for the Tar Heels.
