UNC men’s tennis player Ronnie Schneider has been named the Most Valuable Player of the ITA National Indoor Team Championship. The ITA announced the award Thursday.
The junior was joined by fellow junior Jack Murray on the 2016 ITA All-Tournament Team.
Schneider is the number 23 ranked singles player in the nation and was 4-0 at the No. 2 singles slot as the Tar Heels won the program’s first ITA Indoor National Title.
Murray secured that indoor title by a 4-2 margin with his singles victory on Monday.
Just as it marked the first ITA Indoor National Championship in UNC history, this is the first time a Carolina player has been selected as MVP.
The Tar Heels, now ranked number one in the latest ITA rankings, are back in action at one o’clock Sunday afternoon hosting Wofford.
