UNC’s Jill Shippee Named ACC Women’s Field Co-Performer of the Week

The ACC announced Wednesday that UNC senior Jill Shippee has been named the league’s Women’s Field Performer of the Week after setting a new school record in the hammer throw.

Shippee’s throw of 68.65 meters at Georgia’s Torrin Lawrence Memorial Meet also broke the all-time ACC record she had previously set back in 2019 at the ACC Outdoor Finals.

That mark also was good enough as the sixth-best across the entire country this season.

Shippee and the Tar Heels are currently preparing for this year’s ACC Outdoor Championships, which will be held in Raleigh from May 13-15.
