The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association released its final rankings for the 2020 season on Thursday, with UNC ending the year as the No. 1 team in the country after posting a 7-0 record.

During those seven games, UNC won by an average of 11.3 goals per game with its closest game coming last Monday in a 20-18 win at No. 6 Northwestern.

The Tar Heels collected all 25 first-place votes in the poll, with the rest of the top five consisting of No. 2 Notre Dame (7-0), No. 3 Loyola (5-0), No. 4 Syracuse (7-1) and No. 5 Stony Brook (4-1).

Due to concerns over the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, UNC and the ACC announced it was canceling the rest of the season for all winter and spring sports. The NCAA soon followed suit by canceling all spring sports championships.

Players in all spring sports will be granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA.
