The ACC Cross Country Championships took place on Friday afternoon at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, with the UNC women taking fifth place and the Tar Heel men earning a seventh place finish.

Freshman Sasha Neglia led the way for UNC on the women’s side, finishing sixth place individually in the 6K race with a time of 20:24.6. The fifth-place team finish was the best the program has had since 2015 when it also finished fifth.

Neglia earned All-ACC honors and was named ACC Freshman of the Year as the league’s top finishing true freshman on Friday.

In the men’s 8K race, junior John Tatter was UNC’s top performer at 28th place overall and a time of 23:51.0.

Notre Dame was the overall team winner on the men’s side, while NC State claimed the conference crown in the women’s race.
