The UNC football team revealed Thursday on Twitter that it will break out its 1990’s-era throwback uniforms for Saturday’s Orange Bowl against No. 5 Texas A&M.
This will mark the second time this season the Tar Heels have worn the jerseys, which are a nod to head coach Mack Brown’s first tenure with the team.
In that previous game, UNC put together the largest comeback win in school history in a 59-53 victory over Wake Forest. Quarterback Sam Howell set new school records in that game with 550 passing yards and seven total touchdowns.
Howell will likely need a similar performance for the Tar Heels to have a chance to beat Texas A&M, as the running back tandem of Javonte Williams and Michael Carter have opted to join receiver Dyami Brown in sitting out the bowl game to prepare for the NFL Draft.
Kickoff for Saturday night’s game in Miami is set for 8 p.m.
