Just two weeks before the regular season is set to begin, the UNC women’s basketball team revealed its full schedule on Wednesday.
The Tar Heels will open the season on Nov. 25 at home against Radford, which is the first of five non-conference games scheduled at Carmichael Arena before the team embarks on a 20-game ACC schedule.
All five non-conference opponents are mid-major programs within driving distance of Chapel Hill, as UNC-Greensboro (Nov. 28), High Point (Nov. 29), South Carolina State (Dec. 3) and Charlotte (Dec. 6) will each make visits following the season opener.
UNC begins ACC play with back-to-back road games at Wake Forest (Dec. 10) and Louisville (Dec. 13), before returning home for a game against Syracuse (Dec. 17) and the return game against Wake Forest (Dec. 20).
The Tar Heels will then travel to New York for the rematch against Syracuse on New Year’s Eve, representing the first of three straight road battles as trips to Pittsburgh (Jan. 3) and Miami (Jan. 10) follow soon after.
Carmichael Arena will play host on Jan. 14 as UNC takes on Virginia Tech, a game that will lead in to the first big rivalry test of the season at Duke on Jan. 17.
A pair of road games at Virginia (Jan. 21) and Virginia Tech (Jan. 31) are sandwiched around a home date against Notre Dame (Jan. 24) to complete the January portion of the schedule.
The month of February should present favorable conditions for head coach Courtney Banghart’s team, as they start the month with four straight home games against Florida State (Feb. 4), NC State (Feb. 7), Boston College (Feb. 11) and Virginia (Feb. 14).
In contrast, the Tar Heels close the regular season with three of their final four contests on the road.
That stretch begins with a trip to face Clemson on Feb. 18 then a date in Raleigh to rematch NC State on Feb. 21.
After Georgia Tech visits Chapel Hill on Feb. 25 for the home finale, the Tar Heels close the year with their second road game at Duke (Feb. 28) in a strange bit of scheduling.
This year’s ACC Tournament will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum from March 3-7.
