Based on a Twitter poll conducted by FOX Sports called the Ultimate Fan Bracket, UNC men’s basketball fans have been named the best in the sport.
The Tar Heels narrowly defeated the Brigham Young University fan base in the final poll, which ended on Monday after three days of voting. Nearly 120,000 accounts voted in the final matchup.
The bracket began with 64 fanbases pitted against one another, with UNC, BYU, Michigan and Indiana making up the Final Four. UNC had the second-most total votes over the course of the tournament, tallying 205,605.
What prize does the champion school of the Ultimate Fan Bracket get? Bragging rights in the form of a billboard posted in the winner’s rival’s town, as well as a trophy sent by FOX Sports.
