Fresh off a three-game sweep over Virginia Tech this past weekend–which gave them the No. 1 overall seed for this week’s ACC Tournament, the UNC baseball team also finished the regular season by moving up two spots to No. 5 in the D1Baseball.com Top 25 poll.

The newest poll, released on Monday, has the Tar Heels finishing the year one spot above where they started it–a feat made all the more impressive by the fact that they fell out of the rankings completely after a 7-7 start to the season.

Since then, however, the team has gone 30-10 and won the ACC regular season title.

Defending national champion Florida continues to sit No. 1 in the poll, with Oregon State, Stanford and Ole Miss representing the other teams ahead of UNC.

Rounding out the top 10 is a group that includes: No. 6 Clemson, No. 7 Georgia, No. 8 Arkansas, No. 9 Florida State and No. 10 NC State.

The ACC has four teams among the top 10, and also can claim No. 17 Duke in this week’s poll.

Conference tournament play is scheduled to begin on Wednesday for the Tar Heels, who will take on No. 12 seed Pittsburgh at 7 p.m.
