As they prepare to face Georgetown this weekend in the College Cup semifinals, three UNC women’s soccer players were selected Thursday night by the United Soccer Coaches as All-Americans for their work this season.
Forward Alessia Russo was named a First Team All-American selection, while defender Julia Ashley and midfielder Taylor Otto each earned spots on the Third Team.
Russo had six goals and four assists in 14 games this season before breaking her leg against Wake Forest back on Oct. 26.
Ashley has started all 25 games for UNC at right back, contributing five goals and 10 assists–while also leading the team in minutes played.
Otto, meanwhile, has five goals and six assists and has also started all 25 games in her second year as a starter.
The trio will lead UNC in its NCAA semifinal match on Friday against undefeated Georgetown. That match is at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary and will begin at 5 p.m.
