UNC head coach Roy Williams had a scary moment late in the first half of the Tar Heels’ game at Clemson on Saturday night, appearing to collapse on the sidelines due to a spell of vertigo.
Williams has a history of issues dealing with vertigo, and suffered a similar incident during UNC’s loss at home to Louisville earlier this season.
This particular incident came just after point guard Coby White hit a three-pointer to put the Tar Heels ahead 35-33.
Play resumed after White’s three-pointer, but was stopped when Clemson head coach Brad Brownell noticed Williams down on the opposing sideline and alerted the referees.
He was then helped off the floor and assistant coach Steve Robinson coached the team for the remaining 55 seconds of the half.
UNC spokespeople confirmed it was a vertigo issue at halftime, while also saying it was unclear if Williams would return to coach the second half.
