It took a hard-fought three-set victory (7-5, 6-7, 6-1) from junior Josh Peck in the final match of the day to do it, but the eighth-ranked UNC men’s tennis team was able to eke out a 4-3 victory on Saturday over the No. 15 TCU Horned Frogs.
The match was part of the quarterfinals of the ITA National Indoor Tournament in Chicago, thus earning the Tar Heels a spot in Sunday’s semifinals against ACC opponent Wake Forest.
UNC last won the national championship at the event back in 2016.
Prior to Peck’s match-clinching victory, the Tar Heels took the doubles point and received singles victories from Benjamin Sigouin (6-2, 6-2) and Blaine Boyden.
