With a dominant 22-5 win over the Davidson Wildcats in their home opener on Sunday at Dorrance Field, the No. 2 ranked UNC women’s lacrosse team improved to 3-0 early in the 2020 season–with those victories coming by an average of 15 goals.

Junior attacker Jamie Ortega–who scored six times in UNC’s win over High Point on Friday–found the back of the net five times and dished out three assists against Davidson to lead the Tar Heel offense, while Ida Farinholt added three goals and an assist of her own.

Katie Hoeg and Ally Mastroianni each contributed two goals apiece as well, with the Tar Heels ending the day having 13 players with either a goal or an assist. Hoeg’s six assists tied her with Ortega, as the two Tar Heel stars both finished with eight points.

By halftime, the Tar Heels had already built a 15-1 lead–making the second half nothing more than a formality as head coach Jenny Levy was able to go deep into her bench and use a total of 29 different players.
