The 10th-ranked UNC men’s golf team wrapped up play in the General Hackler Championship on Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, taking home a fourth-place team finish in an event it won by 13 strokes last season.

With a combined team score of 4-over-par, the Tar Heels finished behind only tournament champions NC State (-12), North Florida (-4) and Louisville (-1).

Sophomore Austin Greaser was UNC’s top performing individual at the event, finishing in a tie for fifth place at 3-under-par.

The Tar Heels also received solid performances from Austin Hitt and Peter Fountain, who each tied for 11th at even par.

UNC will return to action from March 27-29 when it hosts the Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill.

“Austin Greaser, Austin Hitt and Peter Fountain played solid golf,” UNC head coach Andrew DiBitetto said afterwards. “Collectively, we weren’t very good this week, especially the last two rounds in windy conditions. We learned a lot and we’ll get back to work at home like we always do. We’re excited to host teams in Chapel Hill and compete at home next weekend.”
