
The most recent Oracle/ITA men’s tennis rankings released on Wednesday have UNC moving up one spot from No. 3 to No. 2 after the Tar Heels had the week off to prepare for the beginning of ACC play this weekend.
UNC was last in action for the ITA National Indoor Championships in Madison, Wisconsin. The Tar Heels lost in the finals of that event to current No. 1 USC, but beat previous No. 1 Ohio State in the semifinals.
Through 11 matches in 2020, UNC has a 10-1 record with nine shutout wins and five victories over ranked opponents.
Behind the Tar Heels in the rankings this week are: No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Texas, No. 5 Michigan, No. 6 Florida, No. 7 Columbia, No. 8 Stanford, No. 9 NC State and No. 10 Tennessee.
The ACC has a total of 10 teams ranked inside the top 50. Among that list are: No. 15 Florida State, No. 17 Wake Forest, No. 20 Miami, No. 29 Duke, No. 37 Virginia, No. 40 Clemson, No. 46 Georgia Tech and No. 47 Louisville.
