Fresh off becoming the all-time leading scorer in UNC history, Tar Heel senior Katie Hoeg was recognized Tuesday as the IWCLA National Co-Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the team’s win over No. 6 Northwestern last Monday.
Hoeg had four goals and four assists for a total of eight points as the top-ranked Tar Heels won on the road by a score of 20-18–representing what will be their closest game of the shortened season.
With 261 career points, Hoeg surpassed the previous school record of 256 set by Corey Donohoe from 2008-11.
She joins teammates Scottie Rose Growney and Emma Trenchard in earning a National Player of the Week honor during the 2020 season.
UNC finished the season–which was canceled due to the spread of the novel coronavirus–with a 7-0 record and a No. 1 ranking in all three major polls.
