According to multiple sources, UNC forward Garrison Brooks has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal and will seek opportunities elsewhere for his final year of eligibility.

Brooks averaged 9.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during his four years with the Tar Heels, and was the Preseason ACC Player of the Year entering this season.

Because the NCAA granted all seniors an extra year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he will still be eligible to compete next season as a graduate transfer.

Brooks becomes the fifth UNC big man to enter the transfer portal or test the NBA Draft process this offseason, joining Walker Kessler (transfer), Walker Miller (transfer), Day’Ron Sharpe (NBA Draft) and Armando Bacot (NBA Draft).

New head coach Hubert Davis has already stated his intentions to try and recruit Kessler back to campus. He will likely continue to search the transfer portal for frontcourt help beyond just Kessler, as the Tar Heels currently have no forwards as part of their two-man recruiting class for next season.
