UNC placed a total of eight players on the Academic All-ACC women’s soccer team, which was revealed on Wednesday.

The Tar Heels tied for third in the conference alongside Clemson with their eight selections, trailing only Duke and Florida State — which had 10 players chosen apiece.

Brianna Pinto (junior/business administration), Rachel Jones (senior/public policy), Abby Allen (freshman/exercise and sport science), Maycee Bell (sophomore/exercise and sport science), Talia Dellaperuta (freshman/undecided), Claudia Dickey (junior/psychology), Aleigh Gambone (sophomore/business administration) and Sam Meza (freshman/exercise and sport science) were the eight UNC players recognized by the ACC.

Eligibility for the Academic All-ACC team requires student-athletes to have a 3.0 grade point average in their most recent semester and as a cumulative average for their entire collegiate career.

Pinto and Jones were also recently selected as two of just 12 players on the Academic All-District Team.

On the field, the Tar Heels posted an 18-2 record this past season and earned the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. UNC made it to the College Cup before ultimately falling in the national semifinals to eventual national champion Santa Clara.
