The UNC rowing coaching staff gained a new member on Wednesday, with the announcement that Ashley Myles has come on board as a volunteer assistant for the fall semester.

Myles arrives in Chapel Hill from Washington College, where she was an assistant coach at her alma mater–a school which she also won three Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference championships at and rowed at three NCAA Division III Championships for.

Prior to her stint at Washington College, she spent three years at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Penn. as the Diplomats’ assistant rowing coach.

“Due to enhanced safety protocols around COVID-19, we have been practicing in small boats (primarily pairs, doubles, and singles) this fall,” UNC interim co-head coach Thomas Revelle said. “This means we have more boats on the water at one time during any given practice.

“Having an additional coach on staff will greatly enhance our ability to spend time observing each boat,” he added. “In addition to the help Ashley will bring to our water practices, she will also offer a fresh perspective and new ideas. She is personable and passionate about rowing, and I see her as someone our student-athletes will quickly connect with and learn from.”
