The UNC men’s basketball team’s Blue-White Scrimmage, originally scheduled to be played at the Harrah’s Resort in Cherokee on October 13, has been moved to the Dean Smith Center and rescheduled for Saturday, October 12 due to the effects of Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina.

“Our number one concern is the safety and well-being of the thousands of people who are affected by the storm and we didn’t want to add to their challenges by trying to play a basketball game in Cherokee at this time,” said head coach Hubert Davis in a statement. “We had some discussions about keeping the date to help restore some normalcy but there is nothing normal about the tragic circumstances people in the area are facing every day. We plan to bring our team to Harrah’s and Cherokee another time when the conditions are right.”

The UNC football team will be playing Georgia Tech in Kenan Stadium at 12 p.m. on October 12. The Blue-White game will tip off approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of the football game. Football parking passes will be honored for the basketball game.

Tickets for the Blue-White game are $10, with all proceeds going toward hurricane relief efforts. Seating is general admission. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, October 8 at 10 a.m. at this link.

Anyone who purchased a ticket to the scrimmage in Cherokee can bring their receipt and be admitted to the Smith Center for free. UNC students will be admitted with their One Card for no charge.

Carolina Athletics is also accepting donations for hurricane victims during the football game against Pittsburgh on Saturday, October 5 at Kenan Stadium. For more information, click here.
