Two future Tar Heels will be representing their country on the hardwood this summer.

Carolina men’s basketball commits Seth Trimble and G.G. Jackson have been named members of the USA Basketball Under-18 team, and will play in the 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championship in Tijuana, Mexico. The competition starts Monday and runs through Sunday, with Team USA beginning play against the Dominican Republic. The top four finishers in the tournament will qualify for the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup.

Trimble will be joining the Tar Heels for the 2022-23 season, while Jackson will arrive in Chapel Hill the next year. Trimble is rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 27 player overall in the 2022 class, while Jackson is a five-star recruit and the No. 2 overall player in his class. Trimble is also the younger brother of former UNC basketball player J.P. Tokoto.

Trimble and Jackson are among 12 players on the under-18 team, selected from a group of 17 finalists who trained in Houston earlier in June. The pair join some of the most highly-touted high school players in the country, including future Duke Blue Devil Jared McCain.

Team USA has won 9 of 11 gold medals all-time in U18 competition and has a 59-2 overall record.
