A pair of recruits for the UNC men’s and women’s basketball teams brought in prestigious honors this week. Seth Trimble, a UNC signee from Menomonee Falls, WI, was named his state’s Gatorade Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year, while Paulina Paris, a signee from New City, N.Y., was named to the 2022 Jordan Brand Classic Girls’ National Team.

Trimble is ranked as a top 50 player in the 2022 recruiting class, and the No. 6 point guard in the nation. He is the brother of former Tar Heel J.P. Tokoto, who played at Carolina from 2012 through 2015. Trimble is the highest-ranked player in Hubert Davis’ first recruiting class as head coach at UNC. This season, Trimble is averaging 26.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while shooting almost 57 percent from the floor.

Paris, also a point guard, is the lone recruit in Courtney Banghart’s 2022 signing class. She is rated as the No. 27 player in the nation and the No. 7 point guard, while also earning a Naismith High School Girls All-America honorable mention nod. She is one of 26 players to be named to the team for the Jordan Brand Classic, which will be played on April 15 in Chicago. Each of UNC’s four current freshmen, as well as sophomore Deja Kelly, were selected for the game during their high school careers.
