Olivia Thomas scored two goals and Kate Faasse added another as Carolina won its third straight match Sunday afternoon, beating visiting Wisconsin-Milwaukee 4-1 at Dorrance Field.

Thomas corralled a loose ball in the box and flicked it into the Panther net to open the scoring in the seventh minute, but Wisconsin-Milwaukee answered in the 21st to even the score at 1-1 entering halftime. Freshman Bella Devey broke the deadlock less than 10 minutes into the second half, capping off a solo run by finding the roof of the net for her second goal of the season.

Thomas scored her second of the day in the 78th minute, and the reigning national player of the year Faasse joined the fun in the 86th. The duo of Thomas and Faasse have combined for seven of UNC’s 17 goals through six matches, with Thomas leading the way at four.

Carolina outshot the Panthers 24-3 overall and held a 12-2 edge in shots on target. Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s goal in the first half was the first allowed at home by the Tar Heels this season.

UNC is now 4-2 overall this season. The Tar Heels will cap off a four-match homestand when they host Alabama at Dorrance Field Thursday night at 7 p.m.
