Washington Commanders quarterback and former UNC star Sam Howell hasn’t forgotten his roots. As part of the NFL’s annual “My Cause, My Cleats” initiative, Howell chose to benefit the Carrboro-based organization TABLE, which works to feed underprivileged children in the Orange County community.
“Every time I go back to North Carolina, I try to get more and more involved,” Howell said. “It’s something I believe in. It’s something I want to be a part of.”
Howell wore the cleats in last week’s Commanders game and will do the same next week. After that, the cleats will go to auction, with all proceeds benefiting TABLE. To bid on the cleats, click here.
Howell has worked with TABLE in the past. The then-junior partnered with the organization as part of his first NIL deal back in the summer of 2021, and continued to volunteer with TABLE throughout the year. Even since Howell’s departure from Chapel Hill, the UNC football program has worked with TABLE, as the NIL collective Heels4Life organized a benefit last spring.
TABLE is currently in the process of moving to a new building in Carrboro. The organization says its goal is to move from its 209 East Main Street location into its new 311 East Main Street headquarters in January.
