DURHAM– The Durham Bulls are rolling once again. With an emphatic 7-0 shutout victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox Saturday night, the Durham Bulls claimed the fourth International League Championship in their history.
The Governors’ Cup returns to the Bull City and will sit aside the 2002, 2003 and 2009 titles on the Bulls’ impressive Triple-A Championship trophy case.
Bulls pitcher Merrill Kelly was dominant Saturday night, tossing six scoreless innings and allowing only two hits while striking out seven PawSox batters.
And now, the Bulls will be gunning for another national title against the Omaha Storm Chasers. The two champions will square off in a one-game, winner-take-all Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Network.
