UNC football head coach Mack Brown joined 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck this morning for “Mondays with Mack,” presented by Chapel Hill Tire.

Brown and the Tar Heels snapped their four-game losing streak with authority on Saturday afternoon, beating Virginia 41-14 to notch Carolina’s first ACC win of the 2024 season. UNC is now back to .500 at 4-4 overall on the season, with Brown forecasting better days ahead for his team.

Here are a few of Brown’s answers on various topics:

On Virginia’s tributes to Tylee Craft: Let me again thank Virginia for the class their entire program showed. They had a moment of silence for Tylee for 13 seconds before the game. They wore decals with his number on their helmets. They wrote all of our players, a personal letter about the loss. And they had the tragic loss of three great young people a few years ago. So they get it. They understand how hard that is. They understand how grieving is, they understand how tough it is during the season. So I want to once again just thank Tony Elliott and the entire Virginia organization for reaching out to us and and sharing thoughts with our loss.

On the win and the aftermath: It was amazing how excited that locker room was. It was like a huge burden was taken off their shoulders and they were very proud that they played well. And they dominated the game. [We] played like we did against Minnesota, a road game against a good team and a hard place to play. And now what we’ve gotta do is go back and be more consistent. We’ve shown who we can be at Minnesota, because Minnesota’s a good team. They just dominated Maryland. They’ve beaten USC. They’re doing some great things this year. So what we’ve gotta do is just be consistently great like we were on Saturday and try to finish this thing strong.

On the upcoming game with Florida State: They’ll be mad. They just lost to Miami. And they’re in a position where they want to finish strong with a lot of the same problems that we’ve had. They’ve had injuries, they’ve got youth at quarterback and inexperience. So this should be a great challenge for us this weekend because Florida State always plays us well. Get down [to Tallahassee] if you can. And if not, put your Carolina Blue on and get near ACC network and scream loudly.
