When Coby White sets foot on campus at UNC next fall, the 6-foot-5 guard will now do so as the all-time leading scorer in North Carolina high school basketball history.
White–who plays for the Greenfield School in Wilson–broke the previous mark of 3,307 set by JamesOn Curry back in 2004 by scoring 41 points on Saturday in a 74-68 loss to Northside (Virginia). His career total now sits at 3,325.
Recently named a McDonald’s All-American for his exploits on the hardwood, White has been committed to play for head coach Roy Williams since July 2016. As the story goes, he made his college decision just three days after receiving a scholarship offer.
Scout.com currently ranks White as the No. 23 player in the Class of 2018, and No. 3 combo guard.
He is part of a loaded Tar Heel recruiting class that also includes a pair of wings in Nassir Little (No. 6 overall) and Rechon “Leaky” Black (No. 61 overall).
