Final standings for the Wells Fargo Conference Cup competitions were released Monday by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, with both Carrboro and Chapel Hill High School taking home the honor for their respective conferences.

The award recognizes the schools that achieve the best overall interscholastic athletic performance within each of the state’s four competitive classifications.

Although each conference determines its own scoring method, the common theme is that points are based on participation and standings in conference play.

Carrboro won the honor for the Mid-State 2-A conference after a strong spring season that saw the Jaguars win titles in both women’s soccer and men’s tennis. Second place conference finishes in softball and men’s track also helped add to the cause.

In the Big 8 3-A conference, Chapel Hill edged out East Chapel Hill for the honor after taking home championships in women’s soccer and men’s track. The Tigers also tied for first in men’s tennis and finished second in women’s track.
