Head coach Hubert Davis earned a late commitment out of the transfer portal Thursday night, as High Point forward Ivan Matlekovic committed to Davis and the Tar Heels.

Matlekovic, a seven-footer originally from Sisak, Croatia, played five games in his only season at High Point, and didn’t appear in any games after January 11. He scored 13 total points and grabbed nine total rebounds across those five contests, though much of that production came in a single game against Carolina University, which is an NAIA school.

Matlekovic has international experience, playing for both the Croatian national team and the Serbian professional team Mladost, where he averaged 5.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

Matlekovic is the seventh player to commit to UNC out of the transfer portal this offseason and will be the 10th newcomer on the roster. Notably, he is also the third transfer portal commitment who hails from a foreign country. Former Arizona Wildcat Henri Veesaar is originally from Estonia, and UNC has also reportedly secured the services of Montenegrin national Luka Bogavac, though Bogavac is still in Europe and has yet to officially join the program.
