Two high-profile Carolina teams came into Sunday with hardware on the line: the women’s lacrosse program was aiming to complete an undefeated season and win its third national championship, while the baseball team faced NC State with the ACC title on the line.

The women’s lacrosse team’s game went final first, after a back-and-forth affair with last year’s defending champion, Boston College. Carolina gutted out a 12-11 win, avenging a Final Four defeat from a year ago.

The women’s lacrosse game’s final moments played out as the Diamond Heels began play in Charlotte for the ACC title. It was a stressful time to be a Carolina fan.

Once the focus was fully on baseball, Carolina pulled away from the Wolfpack within two innings, putting up six runs in the second to blow the game open early. Two home runs from Vance Honeycutt gave him five RBI on the day.

UNC would not relinquish its 9-1 lead, winning 9-5 and clinching the program’s eighth ACC Tournament title. The win capped off a breathless Sunday to be a Tar Heel fan.

Just another day in Chapel Hill.
