To commemorate Kenan Stadium’s centennial season, 97.9 The Hill is inviting community members to share their favorite Kenan memories from the past 100 years. This twice-weekly series will showcase stories from players and fans throughout the fall.
One of the most thrilling wins in Kenan Stadium history came on Oct. 30, 2004, when the Tar Heels upset No. 4 Miami on a last-second field goal. Andrew Jones, who today writes for TarHeel247, covered Carolina that season. As Jones remembers it, Dawn Bunting, the wife of UNC head coach John Bunting, sprinkled some good luck charms on the Kenan Stadium grass beforehand.
To hear more stories like this one, tune in to 97.9 The Hill Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout football season!
