UNC has moved up three spots on the Peace Corps’ 2016 Top Volunteer-Producing College and Universities list. Carolina now checks in at No. 12.

A release says Carolina has been ranked in the top volunteer list for the large school category in each of the last 10 years with 39 Tar Heels currently volunteering around the world. Sine the agency’s founding in 1961, 1,258 UNC alumni have served in the Peace Corps, according to the university.

The Peace Corps has held recruiting events on the UNC campus in the past, including a “fireside chat” last November where Peace Corps director Carrie Hessler-Radelet spoke about opportunities for service in the Peace Corps.
