Crews are working to make repairs to the Old Well on the UNC campus.

“The project will include the restoration and repair of three columns,” university officials said.

Fencing will be installed as the repairs are being carried out, which is expected to take two to three weeks to complete.

Faculty services officials said that the current structure’s moulding and wood bases are white pine and will be replaced with red mahogany.

The original well was constructed in 1795 and additions were made until the current rendition in 1954.
