Two Chapel Hill institutions are joining forces.

Students are flooding back into Chapel Hill in the days leading up to the beginning of the fall semester at UNC. And those students will have on-campus access to a food staple in Chapel Hill, a Merritt’s BLT.

Carolina Dining Services announced earlier this month that Merritt’s would be opening a location in the bottom of Lenoir Dining Hall.

Merritt’s has developed a cult-like following for its BLTs in recent years with lines of patrons sometimes extending out of the door from the storefront on South Columbia Street just north of 15-501.

UNC associate vice chancellor of campus enterprises and chief sustainability officer Brad Ives Tweeted a photo on Tuesday of the location being prepared for students.

The on-campus location will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., according to the announcement.
