Of the hospitals reviewed by the Leapfrog Group in 2019, only 45.6 percent received an “A” rating for safety — and five of those hospitals to receive a top score were in the UNC Health Care system.
UNC Medical Center, UNC REX, Johnston Health, UNC Rockingham and Wayne UNC Health all received “A” grades on the Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2019 report card, which evaluates more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice a year based on criteria regarding general safety and frequency of errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
UNC REX in Raleigh is the only hospital in North Carolina – and one of only 41 across the country – to receive top marks since Leapfrog began grading hospitals for safety in 2012.
